Steering Committee Held in a 500-Year-Old Castle

On the 27th of June, the participants of the OMNIS project gathered in a special location: Frontone Castle. Situated between the ancient centers of Cagli, Luceoli, Gubbio, Sentino, and Suasa, under Mount Catria, the territory of the Municipality of Frontone has been inhabited since ancient times. Over the centuries, Umbrians, Gauls, Romans, Lombards, and Franks have settled in this area, with indisputable evidence of the latter three peoples' presence in Frontone.

The first documents mentioning the Castle and the civil community of Frontone date back to the 11th century. Its history is closely tied to the seignories of Cagli, Gubbio, and Urbino.

In 1530, the Castle and the territory of Frontone became a county of the Duchy of Urbino, a gift from Francesco Maria Della Rovere to the nobleman Gianmaria Della Porta. This status remained until the abolition of feudal jurisdictions following its annexation to the Napoleonic Kingdom of Italy in 1808, an abolition later renewed by Pope Pius VII in 1816.

Taking advantage of the unique setting, the project partners discussed the implementation of the final activities before the reporting period ends and deliverables are finalized.
